Supurna Banerjee
Supurna Banerjee is a Masters of Public Administration candidate at New York University's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, specializing in international policy. She worked as an editor in the book publishing industry for seven years, and currently acts as the co-director of Write on Brooklyn, a company she co-founded that provides writing and consulting services to aspiring authors and non-profit organizations. Supurna is interested in policy work in the areas of humanitarian relief issues, human rights, women’s rights and post-conflict development. She graduated from Amherst College with a BA in English. She lives in Brooklyn.
Margaret Breed
Margaret Breed is the Manager of Special Events at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and has been working at BAM since 2008, coordinating fund-raising and community events. Before BAM, she spent two years at New York City Opera in the Marketing department working with visiting school groups, and also tutored Italian at a Bay Ridge high school. Margaret received an M.A. (Hons.) in Modern History and Italian from the University of St. Andrews. A born-and-raised New Yorker, she now lives in Brooklyn.
Rebekah Coleman
Rebekah Coleman is the co-founder and co-director of Write On Brooklyn. From 2008-2010 she served as the Coordinator of Special Projects and Editorial Supervisor at LitLife and LitWorld, where she oversaw the publication of many practical non-fiction books, organized fundraising efforts, and created professional presentations. Prior to working at LitLife and LitWorld, Rebekah taught Social Studies for four years at two New York City high schools. She received her B.A. from Amherst College and her Masters in Social Studies Education from New York University. She was born and raised in Brooklyn and currently lives there with her husband and daughter.
Elvita Dominique
Elvita Dominique is the Program Coordinator of Technical Assistance for the Center for Court Innovation. Prior to joining the staff at the Center, Ms. Dominique was an associate at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker LLP. Ms. Dominique received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Before and during law school she interned with various public service-oriented organizations including the Midtown Community Court, the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic, the Harvard Tenant Advocacy Project, Jamaicans for Justice and the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. Ms. Dominique also holds an M.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and received her B.A. from Barnard College.
Sarah Flatto
Sarah Flatto is a program coordinator at the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, facilitating educational outreach initiatives in emerging urban immigrant communities. She is an M.A. candidate studying International and Transcultural Studies at Columbia University and received a graduate fellowship from the Earth Institute, Columbia University to conduct research in India and Pakistan. She is also a freelance editor for the Columbia University Institute for the Study of Human Rights, The Diplomatic Insight, and academic journals. Sarah formerly worked for the Hand-in-Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Jerusalem, UNICEF Child Protection Division, Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and Never Again Rwanda. She lives in Harlem and works in every NYC borough.
Robert Guinsler
Robert Guinsler is a senior agent with Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc. where he has worked since 2000. Robert's clients include Pulitzer Prize winning journalists, novelists and academics. He represents such authors as New York Times bestselling author and Harvard Humanist Chaplain Greg Epstein, author of Good Without God: What A Billion Nonbelievers Do Believe, Adam Bradley, author of Book of Rhymes: The Poetics of Hip Hop and the Yale Anthology of Rap; Mark Kurzem, author of the international bestselling The Mascot: Unraveling the Mystery of My Jewish Father's Nazi Boyhood, Quil Lawrence, author of Invisible Nation: How the Kurd's Quest for Statehood is Shaping Iraq and the Middle East, and Charles London, author of Far From Zion: In Search of a Global Jewish Community. In fiction, Robert’s run the gamut across literary and commercial fiction for all ages. His fiction writers include Samantha Peale, author of The American Painter Emma Dial (soon to be an HBO series produced by Philip Seymour Hoffman), Vanina Marsot, author of Foreign Tongue, Barnes and Noble Discover pick Doug Crandell, author of The Flawless Skin of Ugly People, and C. Alexander London’s forthcoming middle grade series The Accidental Adventures. Additionally, Robert represents the Estate of Jack Kerouac and the Estate of Anne Sexton.
Charles London (Chair)
Charles London is an award-winning author of books for children and adults, including One Day The Soldiers Came: Voices of Children in War (HarperPerennial), and Far From Zion: In Search of a Global Jewish Community (Wm. Morrow). As C. Alexander London he writes the Accidental Adventures series for middle grade readers (Philomel). He has a Masters in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute, and is a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project. He has served as director of curriculum for War Kids Relief and as youth services librarian with the New York Public Library in upper Manhattan. When he is not wandering through ancient ruins or trekking through distant jungles, he can be found in Brooklyn, NY, taking dictation from his dog, the real brains of the operation.
Alyssa McClorey
Alyssa McClorey graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in 2005, and has worked in development at Project Bread and the AIDS Action Committee in Boston, and also as Director of Communication for Youth Action International, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in Africa affected by war and conflict. She taught reading in Guyana from September 2006 to July 2007. She later helped to find SAGE Guyana, a scholarship program for Guyanese students with limited means to attend the University of Guyana. She has a Masters of Education from Harvard University and is currently a social studies teacher at Cornerstone Academy for Social Action (CASA) Middle School in the Bronx, NY. Prior to joining the LitWorld Associate Board, she was an intern at LitLife & LitWorld.
Shannon O'Sullivan
Shannon O'Sullivan is a corporate associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, specializing in private funds. She has a B.A. in English and French from The University of Michigan and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. In addition to participating on LitWorld’s Junior Board, she teaches Pilates classes and volunteers for Girls on the Run. Shannon lives in Brooklyn Heights with her fiancé.
Dana Sirota
Dana Sirota, MD, is a pediatrician with a special interest in disease prevention. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health at Columbia University with a focus in childhood obesity prevention. She completed her medical training at Mount Sinai Medical School and her B.A. in psychology at Wesleyan University. She lives with her husband Josh in New York City.
