World Read Aloud Day

Thousands of individuals in over thirty-five countries participated in World Read Aloud Day on March 3, 2010, fostering community, raising awareness for the importance of literacy for humanity across all countries, and promoting the transformative power of story.

Ways to Take Action After March 3:
  • Submit photos and videos of your WRAD experience through email, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo, any blogs you write for, and all of your favorite corners of the web so we can post them here also!
  • Continue to spread the message that Words Change Worlds, on a personal level, a community level, and a global level.
  • Practice strong literacy-building skills in your community and home every day, use our resources and tips year-round!
  • Write to your local elected officials to let them know that your community values the Power of Story and that all the world's communities benefit through increasing rates of literacy and sharing stories.
